A quartz plug is a high-purity fused silica component designed for extreme environments, offering exceptional thermal, chemical, and optical performance. Its key roles include:
Heat Resistance: Withstands 1000°C–1500°C, used in furnaces, reactors, and semiconductor processing to seal openings while preventing heat loss/contamination.
Thermal Shock Resistance: Low thermal expansion avoids cracking under rapid temperature changes.
Resists acids, alkalis, and molten metals (except HF), ideal for corrosive chemical or metallurgical applications.
UV to IR light transmission, used in viewports for high-temperature observation (e.g., industrial kilns, laser systems).
